What we protect
We work to protect endangered wildlife species and their habitat, including Mueller Gibbon, Tomistoma schlegelii, and sea turtles, through community-based and led initiatives. We also with Dayak communities–in the Sintang region, and Iban communities–in the Kappas Hulu region, to help them protect their own cultural ikat weaving arts and tradditions. Learn more

Threats we address
PRCF Indonesia addresses the threat of natural resource degradation. Without protecting and rehabilitating natural resources of which wildlife and people depend, conservation efforts and community livelihoods become unsustainable. We also address the threat of disappearing ancestral cultural arts, particularly Dayak ikat weaving arts that are increasingly getting lost with passing of older weavers. Learn more

Current initiatives
PRCF Indonesia presently works with Dayak, Iban, and Melayu community groups in West Kalimantan to survey and protect the Tomistoma Crocodile and its habitat in the landscape of Danau Sentarum National Park. We also research the conservation status of Mueller Gibbon and several sea turtle species in West Kalimantan. In a recent and most exciting initiative, we facilitate establishment of community forest management areas. Learn more

Past Initiatives
Previously, in West Kalimantan, we have worked in village development and livelihood support activities, in the buffer zone of Bukit Baka National Park. This was actually PRCF’s first activity ever, which gave basis for expansion into its present level of work. In the Sintang area, we engaged in cultural arts revitalisation targeting the Dayak Desa sub-group, and in establishment of pilot models for sustainable agro-enterprises and development of village institutions .
