Rimba Pakai Kemuka Ari – Forest for Future
Yayasan Pelestari Ragamhayati dan Cipta Fondasi Indonesia (PRCF Indonesia), as the project operator, is pleased to announce that the Rimba Pakai Kemuka Ari – Forest for Future Project has achieved validation under the voluntary carbon scheme Verra using the Climate, Community and Biodiversity (CCB) Standards. The third party, independent validation was conducted by Earthood Services Ltd. Earthhood’s assessment concluded that the project meets all relevant requirements of the CCB standards and guidelines, and correctly applies the Plan Vivo Approved Approach for “Estimation of Climate benefits from REDD in community-managed forests.”
Collaborating With Local Village Institutions
The Rimba Pakai Kemuka Ari – Forest for Future project, supports project villages in Kapuas Hulu District in West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia to manage forests for which they have been awarded legal management rights by the Government. The project assists communities to establish and run their village forest committees, develop 10-year and annual forest management plans, patrol and monitor the forests, and rehabilitate degraded land. The project also supports alternative livelihoods, education, and health in these communities.
The validation is a major achievement for PRCF Indonesia, the project communities and project partners because unlike a carbon standard, the CCB standards confirm that project activities will generate significant net benefits not just for climate, but also for the participating communities and the biodiversity in their villages.
Validation of compliance with the CCB Standards has been a long journey and represents the culmination of the efforts of many individuals and organizations. PRCF Indonesia would like to thank the communities of Tanjung Village, Nanga Betung Village, Sri Wangi Village, Nanga Jemah Village, and Penepian Raya Village, the Regional Government of Kapuas Hulu Regency, KPH South Kapuas Hulu, Environment and Forestry Service of West Kalimantan Province, Banjarbaru Social Forestry Center, Government agencies, Rimba Collective, Lestari Capital, The Landscapes and Livelihoods Group, PRCF International, and other stakeholders who provided invaluable support and encouragement during the course of this journey.
